What Is the Ring Dinger®
Chiropractic Adjustment?

The Ring Dinger® Chiropractic Adjustment is a specialized method used for decompressing the spine along the Y-axis, which is the vertical line of the body. This technique involves a quick traction movement that gently stretches the spine, reducing pressure on the vertebrae and spinal discs. The treatment is carried out using custom-built chiropractic Ring Dinger® tables, which securely stabilize the patient's body.

Dr. Gregory Johnson created this method as part of his broader approach, combining elements from several chiropractic techniques such as Palmer Diversified and Gonstead adjustments. He has built a reputation for effectively using spinal decompression to address issues like herniated discs, pinched nerves, and general back pain.

In a typical session, the patient lies flat on a specially designed Ring Dinger® table. The chiropractor stabilizes the legs and pelvis, then applies a precise, quick pulling force to the head and neck, creating a stretch along the spine. Unlike traditional chiropractic adjustments that target specific areas, the Ring Dinger® addresses the entire length of the spine in one motion.

What Are the Benefits of The Ring Dinger® Adjustment?

The Ring Dinger® adjustment, a specific type of spinal manipulation technique used in chiropractic care, utilizes a manual traction device to decompress the spine.
This unique approach offers a range of benefits for those seeking relief and improved well-being.

Ring Dinger spinal decompression benefit - immediate pain relief from herniated discs and sciatica
Pain Relief

The Ring Dinger® adjustment can provide immediate relief from pain by decompressing the spine and reducing pressure on the nerves. It can be particularly effective in treating conditions such as herniated discs, sciatica, and spinal stenosis.

Ring Dinger Y-axis adjustment benefit - improved mobility and increased range of motion
Improved Mobility

The Ring Dinger® adjustment can improve mobility by restoring proper alignment to the spine. This can increase range of motion in the joints and reduce stiffness.

Ring Dinger chiropractic adjustment benefit - improved posture through spinal alignment restoration
Improved Posture

The Ring Dinger® adjustment can also improve posture by restoring proper alignment to the spine. This can reduce pressure on the joints and muscles, resulting in better balance and stability.

Ring Dinger manual adjustment benefit - reduced inflammation for arthritis and autoimmune conditions
Reduced Inflammation

The Ring Dinger® adjustment can reduce inflammation in the body by restoring proper alignment to the spine. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from conditions such asosteoarthritis or autoimmune disorders.

Ring Dinger spinal decompression benefit - improved nervous system function and brain-body communication

Why Is The Ring Dinger®
So Effective?

The efficacy of the Ring Dinger® stems from its ability to directly address the primary causes of chronic spinal issues:accumulated trauma and compressive forces.

The treatment works exceptionally well because it remodels the scar tissue that has built up along the spine over years due to chronic trauma and the constant compressive force of gravity. By remodeling this restrictive tissue, the proper biomechanics of the spine are restored. This restoration of natural spinal motion subsequently reduces chronic inflammation and significantly decreases the occurrence of pain.

Chiropractic adjustments of vertebral subluxation have also been shown to have a significant impact onneuroplasticity — the brain's ability to reorganize and adapt —
by restoring proper alignment, enhancing sensory input, reducing inflammation, and modulating neurotransmitters.

Ring Dinger vs Y-strap and standard chiropractic adjustment comparison at chiropractor Atlanta Duluth GA

Ring Dinger® vs. Y-Strap:
Are They the Same?

Absolutely not. The Ring Dinger® is a highly specialized procedure distinctly different from a general Y-strap adjustment.

The Ring Dinger® is the only Y-axis adjustment designed to fully isolate the entire spine, from the occiput (base of the skull) to the sacrum. It utilizes a specialized treatment table engineered and manufactured by Hill Laboratories in collaboration with Dr. Gregory Johnson, ensuring maximum isolation and efficiency — unlike other methods that often suffer from significant loss of momentum and lack of proper isolation.

Ring Dinger® vs. Standard
Chiropractic Adjustment

The primary difference lies in the plane of movement addressed during the adjustment.

Standard Chiropractic Adjustments typically focus on three dimensions: Z-Axis (Front to Back), X-Axis (Side to Side), and Rotational Changes.

The Ring Dinger® is distinct because it specifically targets and optimizes the Y-Axis (Vertical). It is one of the only and most effective adjusting techniques designed to decompress the entire spine.

What to Expect After
Your Treatment

Immediate Relief: Many patients feel the positive effects immediately after their very first adjustment and often report having an exceptionally restful night's sleep.

Initial Soreness: Some patients may experience mild soreness or stiffness for the first few days. This response is often attributed to the breakdown of long-held scar tissue along the spine and muscles adjusting to newly available, healthy movement patterns.

Long-Lasting Effects: It is common for patients to report feeling the beneficial effects of the Ring Dinger® treatment continue for weeks after their session. Full treatment plans typically range from 1 to 3 visits over a 1–6 month period.
